About
The Univerisity of British Columbia Fisheries Centre is proud to host the 2nd Blender workshop in Vancouver. The first one took place in August of 2008 and was well received by the 24 attendee who spent the day learning about computer graphics and networking with other artists from GNWC-MDM and VFS.
Why
The Fisheries Centre is currently working with GNWC-MDM on a mini educational game using the Blender Game Engine. The workshop is meant to provide beginner and intermediate Blender users with a better understanding of how the software works. The venue also serves to provide a platform for local Blender users to meet each other and share ideas.

Morning:
Coffee and Blender
Blender Introduction, Fisheries Centre Projects
Art showcase, open Mic
Afternoon:
Roundtable discussions
Introduction to Game Marathon
Game Marathon (Advanced)
-The goal will be to collectively finish a mini game by the end of the day, from scratch
Blender Labs (Easy)
Venue
The workshop will take place in the AERL Building (Aquatic Ecosystem Research Lab) at UBC Vancouver. It can be easily access with numerous transit route, pay parking is also available.
Cost and Logistics
The event will be free of charge. Due to the limited computers we have, attendees are recommended to bring their own laptop for the event. Free Wifi will be available.
Intership Opportunities
Fisheries Centre also has several summer internship positions open on
this game project and is looking for artists, blender heads, and
